Ellzey, Myra Malissa (Davis); Obit, Copy of obit found among Murray D. Ellzey's (a son) papers.
On September 13, 1950 - as beautiful and peaceful as the setting of the afternoon sun that streamed softly across her room, was the closing of the life of this dear little mother, Mrs. J.I. Ellzey, whose 91 years of joy, pain and tears saw death come finally as a friend. For the past six months Mrs. Ellzey had been confined to her bed & her gentle spirit tried to hide the pain that wracked her frail body. Before the end came she ceased to suffer, gradually going away. Her devoted daughter, Mrs. J.S. Lee, no doubt kept her mother here longer than one would have stayed otherwise, by loving and wise care. Only about 2 months ago, a son passed away - Mrs. Ellzey never know. that he had gone on ahead, so careful was the family of her. She came with to Wesson about thirteen years ago to make this her home, and endeared herself to all who knew her. Interment was at Sartinsville, the, old family home---to which relatives came from widely separated places. The blanket of flowers that covered the burying ground was a silent tribute to the beautiful life that had gone into Another Room. Services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Mark Lowry, assisted by Rev. J.W. Holston, with music furnished by Mrs. J.M. Ewing. The pall bearers were her grandsons and great great grandsons; Jewel Ellzey, M.H. Wall Jr., J.D. & Hadley Richmond, J.B. and H.R. Richmond. The husband and one son had preceded her in death. The surviving children are, Mrs. G.B. Richmond. Tylertown; Mrs. W.P. Stringer, Kokomo; Mrs. J.S. Lee, Wesson; Messrs. H.D. Ellzey, Shreveport, La.; J.W. Ellzey, Hammond and M.D. Ellzey, Chicago.
